Retroactive Haitus

Hey there! Long time no see.

If you're a regular reader of Invisible Studio, you may have been wondering where I've been for so long. Well, the story goes that this winter, around early February, I decided that I didn't want to sit around my house all Spring; I needed to get out and do something different for a while So, using a heinous sum of my funds, I traveled to Peru for seven weeks, to the city of Cuzco, and volunteered. I taught English to students in a low-income elementary school, took Spanish classes for myself, and on the weekends, I went hiking. It went alright. I met some awesome people, learned some things about teaching a foreign language, and saw some of the most gorgeous scenery Gaia has to offer. But now I'm back; well, temporarily.

For the past couple of weeks and for this next week, I am interning at the University of Tennessee Press in Knoxville, learning all about the publicity side of the publishing business. More or less, I'm mailing out letters and review copies of books, writing press releases, and converting book descriptions into short copy (150 words). It's a good time. Come June 16th, however, I'll be traveling up to Ann Arbor, Michigan to act as Lead Instructor at a technology camp, third year running (though my first time at the Michigan location). At camp, I'll be working no less than sixteen hours a day, so I might disappear for more or less, precisely, seven weeks, but I'll try to drop in for a post or two when I get the chance. That said, I've yet to finish my Warcraft III mod, Manifest, and I'll likely take what free time I can garner to work on finishing up that. Pre-Peru, I was running into some pretty darn tough road-blocks that I'll have to deduce some means of overcoming sooner or later.

Tonight, though! Tonight, I have for you a brand new article, a preview of StarCraft II from my copious, over-zealous time spent with the beta. *Sniff* A beta that ends tonight. But all is well, because now I'll have more time to play Shattered Horizon and the awesome new content Futuremark has released for the title. Within a couple of days here, I'll have an updated review of Shattered Horizon. Look for it. Great to be back. Thanks for reading.

Invisible Studio Two Year Anniversary!

Today is Invisible Studio's Two Year Anniversary! I see this site as a few things: a way to practice my writing, a way to practice my understanding of game design, and as a portfolio for employment someday. Thank You, Readers!

The above comic is from Nedroid, a site that pretty much sums up my life philosophy.

So Much For The Mopping Now For Some Justice!

Hey everyone, I'm back home alive and well. For vacation, the family and I went driving all around Nova Scotia; hills, beaches, it was great. Much has happened with gaming in my absence. Primarily, the release of BioShock and the Liepzig event. I'm dong my best to catch up and get back to blogging regularly. I'm also starting my fall semester on monday, so I'll be heading back to school this weekend. Thanks for being patient over the past couple of weeks.

And here is a return present just for you.

Pretty darn sweet. I actually found this originally at GamePlanets, which has a really awesome DivX version that darkens your screen. Check it.

To Infinity, And Beyond!

Hello. As I mentioned yesterday, I'm going on vacation. I leave in a couple hours for Novia Scotia with family in tow. Should be fun. Essentially this means no posts for a couple weeks. Immediately after I return from vacation I go back to school for the fall. Don't fret though. I'll be back to posting by the end of the month. Enjoy life and read alot about game design. Sorry to leave you hanging. I'll be back in a couple weeks.

Invisible Studio 100 Posts

Only nine months since Invisible Studio's inception and we've reached 100 Posts already. Thats on average a post roughly every 3 days, or 2 to 3 posts a week. This is a great milestone for Invisible Studio, and furthermore, myself. I have proven to myself that I can really work on and stick to something I'm passionate about. Most importantly, thank you. I am so grateful to everyone who reads this blog. It means that I'm not the only person who finds the things I talk about meaningful. I love learning about game design and finding things every day that teach me even about one little aspect towards creating great games. And I love sharing these things with you. I also want to thank David Mcmahon who helped me get my start with helpful blog tips and a weekly mention in his blog awards. Lastly, thanks to blogger which has a very streamlined posting and management interface. Now for some milestone goals: I am going to make my best effort to post at least once every other day. Its a reasonable request without bein overly daunting. My second goal is to create more of a community at this blog. Though I attempt to stimulate conversation in most posts, clearly my efforts have been in vain. I would really love to hear any ideas you might have for making Invisible Studio more discussion focused. Please let me know. My third and final goal is to improve my writing. This means spelling and grammer checking before posting and really focusing on making each sentence count.

Thanks again for visiting Invisible Studio. I hope you come back and help to make the blog as best as it can be.

And so was written posts one-hundred-and-one.

Invisible Studio: Blog Header

Hello,
I took some time out to create an image header for this here blog. You may have noticed. The reason there is a big space below the image, is because the original text header is still there, except now the text color matches that of its background. The reason for this is because, apparently, the header text is a big deal with search engines, so invisible studio may not even come up if the header wasn't still there. I know its ugly, I'm working on. But for now bear with me. I also know my image design isn't very good, so if you have an idea or even want to make your own, please let me know.

There were a few sites that helped me a ton in figuring out how to get this header up. The site that helped me most though was Testing-Blogger-Beta. Check it out if you want a hyperlink image as a header on your site too.

Thanks Much. Enjoy the site.
